This is tournament 1 of a 3 tournament series. There will be a Series Champion award for individual and team at the end of the virtual season.
A JROTC Virtual Tournament is a global competition held at each unit's home range, supervised by two JROTC Basic Archery Instructors. Scores are submitted online within a 2-week period. The series consists of 3 tournaments, with cumulative scores determining the winners.
Eligibility
Participants must be a current member of JROTC and have completed the NASP/Centershot Archery Safety Orientation with their archery instructor.
Scoring Classes
Individual - All High School grades.
Team - Consists of 6 individuals with no minimum gender requirements. Units may enter more than 1 team for the tournaments.
Awards
Awards for the top 3 individuals and top 3 teams will be recognized at the end of each tournament. A Series Champion uses the average of all tournaments from the series to determine the top individual award and team awards.
Equipment
Only NASP approved bows (Genesis Original), arrows (unmodified Easton 1820), arrow curtains and targets (80cm international style) may be used for the tournaments. Morrell 80cm NASP Paper Target Faces may be placed over the target bail for easier scoring.
Match Rules
- General
- No more than two competitors may shoot at each target at one time.
- When more than one archer is shooting at the same target, the arrows must be identifiable to each archer by either color or other markings.
- Shooting Distance
Archers will shoot straddling a shooting line marked at 10 meters and 15 meters from the targets.
- Practice
There will be one practice end at 10 meters and one at 15 meters, prior to shooting for score at each distance.
- Scoring
- Archers will shoot 1 end of 5 arrows for practice and 3 ends of 5 arrows for score from 10 meters and 1 end of 5 arrows for practice and 3 ends of 5 arrows for score at 15 meters for a total of 30 scoring arrows, 10 ring scoring, with a total of 300 points possible.
- Archers sharing a target will score each other’s targets and the archer will verify their score by initialing or checking a box next to the score. If a single person is shooting on the target, a lane judge or instructor will score their target for them. If there is a question between two archers on a score the lane judge or instructor will make the decision.
- An arrow will be scored according to the position of the shaft on the target face. If the shaft touches the line, the archer receives the higher score.
- Neither arrow nor the target face should be touched until all the arrows on that target face have been recorded. Three (3) Tournament Series Dates
